A direct cremation in Hawaii costs about $1,547 on average. Prices vary from one provider to the next, so ask two or three funeral homes for their General Price List before you decide. Under the FTC Funeral Rule, they must give you one when you ask. See Cremation Costs in Hawaii for average prices by island and city.
Hawaii has no minimum waiting period before cremation, but state rules require the body to be embalmed, cremated or buried within 30 hours of death. When a body travels between islands by a common carrier, the burial-transit permit must travel with it. A certified death certificate costs $10 for the first copy and $4 for each extra copy ordered together. Our Hawaii funeral and cremation guide explains each step.
