A direct cremation in Connecticut costs about $3,150 on average, one of the highest state averages in the country, but all-inclusive packages start from $2,000. Prices vary from one provider to the next, so ask two or three funeral homes for their General Price List before you decide. Under the FTC Funeral Rule, they must give you one when you ask. See Cremation Costs in Connecticut for prices by city.
Connecticut requires a licensed funeral director to handle the arrangements. There is a 48-hour wait after death before a cremation can take place, and a medical examiner must issue a cremation certificate before the local registrar issues the cremation permit. Certified death certificates from the State Vital Records Office cost $20 each. Our Connecticut funeral and cremation guide explains each step.
