New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association Inc (NJSFDA) was founded in 1902.
The NJSFDA has over 1000 funeral director's as members from over 500 different
funeral homes in the state of New Jersey. The
New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association is a not-for-profit trade organization
that is recognized nationally for its provisions for helping to provide funeral
related programs and services. The association works with both the funeral
industry itself and with the general public to ensure that people receive both
ethical and professional help when needed. The
NJSFDA has on offer to all its members 2 different types of Preneed Programs.
Firstly, for people wishing to purchase a straight forward funeral plan, the NJSFDA
offers New Jersey Prepaid Funeral Trust Fund™, where all funds are kept in FDIC
insured accounts. Secondly, the association offers Sure Trust™, which
is used with existing insurance policies or for Medicaid purposes. Both
these plans are handled by the New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association
Inc. According to
records there where 73,589 deaths in New Jersey in 2003 with 18,911 (25.7%) choosing
cremation as there preffered choice for the funeral service. The number
choosing cremation is expected to rise to over 30% by 2010 in New Jersey.
