The Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association (MFDA) located in Weymouth, Massachusetts claim to be the recognized voice and resource for information, expertise and opinion on issues affecting the funeral service profession in Massachusetts.  The association expects all of its members to always provide dignity and respect to the deceased and to provide compassionate care to bereaved families.  The Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association also strive to ensure its members are kept informed with new practices and a continued commitment to lifelong learning.  They try and ensure the highest standards of service are maintained by all members of the association.

In Massachusetts today, like other states in America, cremation is becoming the preferred choice of many families.  According to records in 2003 Massachusetts had 55,836 deaths in the state with 14,361 (25.72%) choosing a funeral cremation service.
