Peoria
is the county seat of Peoria County and is located on the Illinois
River. The city became famous as a representative of the average
American city because of its demographic and mainstream Midwestern
culture. The term “Will it play in Peoria?” has
become a metaphor for whether something does indeed appeal to
the mainstream American public.
