The city of Carrollton is located within the counties of Denton County, Dallas County and Collin County. It has an estimated population of 123,000, and is considered a suburb of the DFW Metroplex area. It was named as one of the top 100 Places to live in 2006 by Relocate America. In the same year it was also named as the 19th best place to live in the U.S. by Money magazine, and 2 years later became the 15th best place to live.
Originally settled as a rich agricultural area, the arrival of the railroad developed the city as an industrial area.
